Why use Father Dom’s Premium Organic blends, as opposed to other brands of potting mixes?

Father Dom’s Organic Blends have several advantages over other mixes:

1. We use the same blend of all natural organic materials each time, giving us a consistent finished product.
2. Each batch of Father Dom’s Organic Blends is carefully screened to eliminate unwanted material and is free of weed seeds.
3. Our blends will furnish valuable humus, help to loosen hard soils, improve soil aeration, and help to retain moisture, all attributes which help to provide better soil for better plants
4. We use all natural organic materials and do not use peat or sphagnum moss, which many times is stripped from the ground in an environmentally damaging manner.
5. Testing is done on a periodic basis to monitor PH, salt levels and essential parameters. Father Dom’s Organic Blends can be used in both containers and in gardens. These all natural organic blends can be used alone or mixed with existing soil.

If used in existing containers, mix Father Dom’s Organic Blends thoroughly into existing soil in equal parts. Soils can lose its humus and breakdown over time, so it is best to refresh your soil yearly; however, for diseased plants or plants that had bugs, replace soil and sterilize the container before reusing.

If used in garden beds, it is best to remove all weeds, and then incorporate Father Dom’s Organic Blends into the soil with a spade or rototiller. If your soil is clay and very compacted, make sure it is dry and crumbles before working it, otherwise you may destroy the soil’s structure. You need to break up the soil before working Father Dom’s Organic Blends in and may need 3-4 inches of the mix to help break up the clay. For soils that are loamy and have good structure, use 1-2 inches. Father Dom’s Organic Blends can be used for indoor gardens and house plants too! Better soil is a blend of air, water, minerals and organic matter.

Father Dom’s Original Organic Compost Father Dom's Compost is "the Cadillac of compost... the earth wins, disabled individuals win and charities win." -Father Dom This blend can be mixed into existing gardening beds or containers, indoors or outdoors. Our compost is a soil conditioner that helps break up hard clay soil and adds structure to sandy soils. This mix contains a slow release organic fertilizer that adds nutrients and valuable microorganisms to your soil. It will also help the soil to retain moisture longer, reducing watering requirements. Regular use of this mix will give your soil the proper structure; add porosity for proper drainage, and aeration for root stimulation, all soil properties needed to grow better plants. Father Dom’s Original Organic Compost is also useful for indoor gardening. It can be used in potting soils for houseplants, or in soil mixes for starting flower and vegetable seeds. Premium Organic Potting Mix This mix consists of an all natural blend of composted materials and is ready to be used for all your planting needs, both indoors and outdoors. Premium Rose/Flower Organic Mix This is a blend of our Original Organic Compost and a mix of other natural materials formulated specifically for flowering plants. This mix is ready to be used for planting in containers or can be mixed into any existing flower bed to reinvigorate it. This mix contains a higher level of phosphorus, which is important to flowering plants and shrubs. Premium Tomato/Vegetable Organic Mix This blend is great for container gardening and/or can be mixed into existing vegetable gardens, to break up hard clay soils or add structure to sandy soils. This specially formulated all natural blend contains higher levels of magnesium, which is vital for tomatoes/vegetables. Mommy and Me Garden Kits: Great family fun!!!

Just clear all growth from a 16 sq. ft area (4’ x 4’) patch of ground. Break up the top 2-3” of soil, evenly spread the compost/soil conditioner over the area and work it into the soil. Put the seed germinating tablets into the bucket and add warm water. Stir the mixture regularly and watch the tablets expand. Now lightly sprinkle this mixture over the planting area. Spread the contents of the 5 seed packets on top of this mix, and lightly press into the soil. Water.
